Spider-Man, Black Panther honored with statues on Disney Destiny cruise ship
8/1/24:
For each of its cruise ships, Disney selects specific characters to be represented as statues in places of honor on the vessel: on the exterior stern, and in the main lobby. On the Disney Destiny, Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (and some spider bots) will adorn the outside, while T’Challa aka Black Panther will await guests in the lobby.
To announce the statue, Disney released another comic-book-style animatic featuring Marvel heroes:
Saga, a Wakanda-themed activity space

Adjacent to the Grand Hall lobby of the Disney Destiny cruise ship, the Saga flex space will be used for family events during the day and adults-exclusive entertainment at night. Its architecture will evoke the kingdom of Wakanda from “Black Panther.”
The Sanctum, a Doctor Strange lounge
8/1/24:
The New York City Sanctum Sanctorum, as seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange’s headquarters, will be the setting of The Sanctum, a lounge onboard the Disney Destiny themed to the mystical hero’s exploits.
Destiny Tower Suite, a Tony Stark-inspired penthouse
8/1/24:
The concierge-level Destiny Tower Suite will be the Disney Destiny’s 2,000-square-foot penthouse accommodation in the cruise ship’s forward funnel. With flourishes paying tribute to Marvel and Iron Man, the Destiny Tower Suite will be indicative of Tony Stark’s luxurious personality.

Disney Cruise Line’s water attraction, AquaMouse, will be featured on the Disney Destiny with a completely new storyline than previous iterations. This one is called “Sing a Silly Song.”

Disney Cruise Line
The attraction will feature appearances by Chernabog, the Queen of Hearts, Scar, and more.
As with other AquaMouse attractions, this one will feature new animation in the style of Paul Rudish’s Mickey Mouse cartoons and .
Haunted Mansion Parlor
7/31/24:
Haunted Mansion Parlor, inspired by the classic Disney theme park attraction, will be onboard the Disney Destiny. As previously announced, the establishment will also be part of the Disney Treasure cruise ship, setting sail in December 2024.
Haunted Mansion Parlor will feature a new version of the iconic bride, this time as a mermaid ghost (pictured below). So the story goes, a dinner between a sea captain and his fiancé ended in the captain’s death. Both the captain and the bride are new takes of similar counterparts found in the Haunted Mansion ride. In the original attraction, the ghost bride has axed off a string of romantic partners by the time we see her in the attic.

Cask and Cannon, a ‘Pirates’ pub
7/31/24:
Captain Jack Sparrow once lamented, “Why is the rum gone?” You won’t be asking that at Cask and Cannon, a pub themed to the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disney theme parks.
De Vil’s, a piano lounge
7/31/24:
The adults-only piano lounge named DeVil’s will feature a piano covered in spots and interior design evoking the distinctive flair of Cruella de Vil from “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”
Disney released a new animatic starring Cruella and her henchmen Horace and Jasper to announce the lounge:
Meet & greets with villains onboard the Disney Destiny cruise ship
7/31/24:
Villains and villain-adjacent Disney characters will greet guests onboard, including:

- Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty”
- Cruella de Vil from “One Hundred and One Dalmatians”

- Dr. Facilier from “The Princess and the Frog”
- Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe
- Bruno from “Encanto”
Disney also mentioned a “dance party in Oogie Boogie’s shipboard lair” but didn’t elaborate on the space further.
Staterooms with heroic flourishes
7/30/24:
Most of the staterooms onboard the Disney Destiny cruise ship will have a split bath. Adjoining staterooms with a connecting door will be available, as well.
In the concept art below, headboard artwork celebrates the 1997 Disney film “Hercules.”

Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King (cruise ship dinner show)
7/30/24:
A dinner show experience inspired by “The Lion King” will be part of every traveler’s voyage onboard the Disney Destiny cruise ship. Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King will celebrate the classic 1994 film both in its design and its entertainment.
“Windows” along the walls will transition from sunrise to sunset as the meal progresses.
In the center of the restaurant, the music from “The Lion King” will be performed in new ways, such as a heroes-vs.-villains mash-up of “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” with “Be Prepared,” as well as an interpretive dance set to “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and a finale featuring “He Lives In You,” a song that debuted on the 1995 album “Rhythm of the Pride Lands” and was later part of the Broadway production and “The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride.”
To celebrate the news, Disney released another installment of the Disney Destiny comic-book tale, this one featuring Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa facing off against Scar and the hyenas. Take a look:

Disney Destiny cruise ship will be themed to Disney heroes and villains
7/30/24:
As announced earlier this year, in a first for Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Destiny cruise ship will focus on a central story throughout its furnishings, entertainment, and restaurants: heroes and villains.
In a spring 2024 teaser video, Captain Minnie becomes Hero Minnie as she teams up with Hercules and Pegasus to thwart Hades, Pain, and Panic. Animated in the style of a comic book, the “cover” also shows Simba, Scar, and Cruella.
Similarities of Disney Destiny cruise ship to ‘Star Wars hotel’ and other attractions
7/30/24:
The “heroes vs. villains” theme has been test-trialed in different forms throughout various parks, and not just by Disney. Most recently, Six Flags Magic Mountain hosted DC Heroes & Villains Fest, with Wonder Woman and Batman facing off against the Joker, Harley Quinn, and more. Disney hosted a heroes-and-villains-themed 24-hour event back in 2014 at Magic Kingdom, which saw the likes of Hercules and Buzz Lightyear alternating with foes such as Cruella and Dr. Facilier in special versions of that day’s parades.
The “choosing a side” narrative also echoes “Star Wars” experiences, particularly the Galactic Starcruiser (aka the “Star Wars hotel”), which prompted its guests to select their path of joining the Resistance or going over to the Dark Side. Will guests on the Disney Destiny be asked to join the ranks of either heroes or villains? Will, like onboard the Starcruiser, their actions influence (to some degree, at least) what happens within the ship’s programming?
Disney Destiny is one of many upcoming cruise ships
7/30/24:
Disney Cruise Line is busy nearly doubling its current fleet. In addition to the Disney Destiny cruise ship setting sail in 2025, the company will also soon introduce:
- Disney Treasure, sailing Dec. 21, 2024 from Florida
- Disney Adventure, sailing 2025 from Singapore
- An unnamed ship sailing by 2029 from Tokyo
Disney Cruise Line also just opened Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, a new island destination in The Bahamas for its ships.
